The new Belgian Adobe usergroup : the 360° approach

Last month the Belgian Adobe usergroup “rebooted”. The renewed usergroup came with a new website and a 360° approach towards Adobe’s products. They reorganized and have now 6 different interest groups (SIG) : Video, Photography, Web, Design, Print and RIA(enterprise). Every Adobe product fits inside 1 or more SIGs.

The new website enables their community to define what products they use and what SIGs they want to link to. The new site wants to enable sharing of information and ideas.

The goal is to organize every month one AUG event, linked to 1 or more interest groups. Next one coming up is the “Design SIG” event in Antwerp. Yes, indeed … Antwerp. The rebooted AUG wants to host their events in different cities across Belgium.
At the moment all content is in Dutch (except for the RIA sessions), but I’ve been told they might add other languages in the future …

The event list contains 6 events and topics look really promising. The “Video SIG” event in march looks impressive. Check out the website and get subscribed ! You can follow them on twitter : @augbe

More Adobe IBC news : Flash Access 2.0 (DRM for video delivery)

It’s the new version of “Adobe Flash Media Rights Management Server”, and got rebranded with this version to Flash Access.

Most exiting part of this news is the fact that with the next version of the Flash player, we will now provide DRM for Flash player in the browser. Up until now DRM was only possible when watching video in an AIR client. You can find the press-release here, and more information can be found on FlashComGuru.

If you don’t need full DRM functionality for online video delivery, Flash Media server also provide some basic secure delivery options … You can get more information in the “video content protection measures using Flash Media Server” whitepaper.

Getting ready for IBC Amsterdam with Adobe Story and CinemaDNG

We are one day away from IBC in Amsterdam. I will be there on friday, monday and tuesday. Let me know if you are around, we can always meet up and get you an Adobe update ! You can find Adobe at H7H.23.

IBC didn’t even start and you can find allready on labs.adobe.com 2 new exiting technologies.

CinemaDNG wants to provide digital cinema workflows a similar functionality as what DNG provided for photography.

Adobe Story is a collaborative tool that will let creative professionals, producers, and writers work on scripts and screenplays. You can download on labs.adobe.com a free preview. Adobe Story itself is an Adobe AIR application.
