It’s great to see all the news coming by from the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

After talking for a while now about the Open Screen Project, it’s clear we are getting close to a first release of Flash player 10.1 for mobile. It’s amazing to see the number of devices that are shown at the Adobe booth. Numerous pda’s and netbooks are showing a beta version of the flash player 10.1 for devices. Finally a full web experience on mobile devices ! On Adobe TV you can get some demo videos.

Ofcourse we all know that for mobile the applications are as important as the browser when we are talking about a web experience. Adobe AIR already provided you on a desktop a flash experience outside the browser. Adobe announced this week also Adobe AIR for Android, with a plan to get AIR on other mobile platforms.

See it in action :

So yes … Open Screen Project is a great vision, brought to reality thanks to all of the OSP partners. I’m sure there is more to come on this subject !

I get this question quite a lot lately. What was announced on http://labs.adobe.com as Cocomo, is today known as the “Adobe LiveCycle Collaboration Services”.(LC CS) The service is no longer beta.

For who doesn’t know it yet … LC CS is a set of Flex components you can integrate into your own application. These Flex components offer you online collaboration capabilities like a chat window, webcam integration, multi-user whiteboard, VOIP, … You can see it as Acrobat Connect building blocks.

As the word “service” implies, these Flex components will use a hosted service provided by Adobe. If you want to use these components you’ll need to have an account to use these online services.

Wanna get started ? Checking out the LC CS developer portal might be a good idea

Congrats to the BBDO Proximity team ! The “Pepsi Max it” case is one of the 3 finalists for the Max Award 2009, category Advertisement. They build a great experience integrating Flash with a hardware component, a claw machine ! The fact they also integrated facebook is a nice extra !

Next step is that the world can vote to select the winner, this will be possible from September 21th on the Adobe Max site.

If you are going to Max, make sure you’ll be there to support them. If you still didn’t book your ticket for Max … Flying to LA is still pretty cheap … (400 euro) and the weak dollar makes your stay pretty cheap in LA.
